Queensland-New South Wales Interconnector (QNI) Commissioned
In the year 2000, the Queensland-New South Wales Interconnector was commissioned. The Interconnector enabled sharing of generation capacity between Queensland and other states in the National Electricity Market (NEM) in Australia. QNI has the maximum power transfer capability of around 1,100 Megawatts southwards into New South Wales and 500 Megawatts northwards through Queensland. During its first full year of operation, the QNI transported significant power northwards and southwards during peak summer demand.
2000: Oakey
Oakey Gas-fired Power Station and Swanbank D were commissioned.
2007: Retail changes
The retail sector of the energy corporations goes to private enterprise.

Enertrade disbanded.
